NEW DELHI: A day before the lockdown 4.0 comes to an end, few states have already announced the extension of the restrictions till June 15. Madhya Pradesh became the first state on Saturday to announce the lockdown extension even as the Centre eased the norms across the country.
The countrywide lockdown in containment zones was extended till June 30, while hospitality services, hotels and shopping malls will be allowed to open from June 8, the Union home ministry said.
Here is a list of states that have released fresh lockdown guidelines:
Madhya Pradesh
Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on Saturday that the lockdown in the state to contain coronavirus will be extended till June 15. He was speaking to students from ten districts through video-conference.
“Schools would reopen after June 13. But the final decision on this would be taken after some days because we are going to extend lockdown till June 15,” he said.
“(Because) We also have to deal with coronavirus,” Chouhan said while telling the children about the precautions they need to take to protect themselves from the virus.
Punjab
Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh on Saturday announced a four-week extension of the coronavirus lockdown till June 30.
Though experts have advised against opening of hospitality services and shopping malls in the state, the chief minister said his government will take into account the Centre’s guidelines for lockdown 5.0.
Singh announced his decision after an on-ground assessment of the Covid situation through a video conference with health experts and cabinet ministers Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Balbir Singh Sidhu and Tript Singh Bajwa, according to a government release.
During his weekly Facebook live session, the chief minister said the threat of Covid-19 was not over yet and if necessary, he would continue to take tough measures to save the lives of people.

West Bengal
The West Bengal government has also extended the lockdown till June 15 with some relaxations and conditions. The state government also allowed TV and cinema production from June 1.
West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee had on Friday said that all religious places will open in the state on June 1 where not more than 10 people will be allowed at any time.
“Temples, Gurudwaras, Mosques and all religious places in the state are closed. They will open from June 1 but not more than 10 people will be allowed at any given point of time. No assembly would be allowed in religious places,” Mamata said.
